Q: one headlight (drivers side) comes on,randomly, on my 1996 Infiniti G20. Only way to get it to turn off is dri
can't turn it off unless i drive it around the block, then turn everything off. Anyone have any ideas? My mechanic says I have to bring it in when the light is on, but the garage is closed at n ight, and if the light is on all night my battery will be dead.Anyone had this problem?

A: More than likely you have a headlight relay sticking on. The relay packs are usually under the hood near the battery with the fuses. When you pull of the fuse cover sometimes they are labeled under the lid. If it shows a L and R headlamp relay, tap on it when you are having that problem and see if it turns off. If it doesn't, pull the relay out and the light should turn off. If this is the case, go to your local auto parts store and buy another one. Shouldn't be much money. If you don't see the relays there, check your owners manual. In the index it should list the fuse and relay locations.

Q: How often you change timing belt? 1996 Infiniti g20?
Thanks anyone..

A: preventative maintance would require you to change it out at 60,000 to 75,000 miles just to make sure it wont snap. But timing belts are knows to last alot longer depending on how you drive your vehicle. I would recommend it between 60k and 75k so you wont have to replace it later (when it breaks) and replace alot more than you would have to if you did it early.

Q: what type of radiator fluid (coolant or anti-freeze) do I use for an 1996 Infiniti G20?

A: Probably the green stuff. If you currently have the brown stuff, use the brown stuff. Green and brown are not compatible.

Q: Opinions on the 1996 Infiniti G20 Touring?

A: Its a nice Sentra. You would be better served getting something else, If you are on a fairly tight budget, but want something a little nicer try a late model ES300 lexus, an Acura or a Saab.

Q: Anyone real knowledgeable with a 1996 Infiniti G20?
I have a few problems with this car. Here's the specs that I do know (I'm not a gearhead or anything, so I don't know a whole lot, bear with me): Fuel Capacity is 15.9 gallons. I'm making around 200 (no more than 230) miles per tank, which would make it a range of 12.6-14.5 miles per gallon...and this is all city driving, which should be at 22. Highway at 28, average at 25. I had the car tuned up about a month ago: new plugs, new caps, new pretty much everything. Realistically, the gas mileage sucks right now, and I have to travel from home to College to back to work to home everyday. In addition, when I drive, I hear something that reminds me of a bed spring squeak if you move on the bed. Someone had said it was the control arm that was the problem, but I was wondering if anyone had knowledge of this. And don't tell me to get a new car, I can't afford that. Thanks.

A: when they test mileagle on cars it is done by professionals who take off during the test very slowly and gradually in a test area This is why the statement "actual mileage may vary" must be included with the mileage declaration. I know it's not fair and should really say actual mileage will be much lower, but they get away with it because the car, with premium fuel, set up new to be as lean burning as possible for the test, pro driver, and even a nice tail wind actually got that mileage. When looking at mileage of vehicles, look at the numbers as relative ones when comparing to other vehicles milage ratings. That is their intention of the rating; to be compared to other vehicles when shopping for a car. As far as that squeak goes, it could be just about anything, but the most likely thing for it to be is the exhaust system mounting. Try (when cold) shaking the exhaust tailpipe and listen if you hear the squeak. chances are that this is what is causing it. tighten or repair accordingly.

Q: Does the rear defroster button on a 1996 Infiniti G20 console light when not pushed in?
I know it lights up when you push it in (as does the emergency flasher) but what I want to know is are these buttons supposed to be lit when NOT pushed in; i.e., when you are driving at night. Already checked the dimmer, that's not the issue: all other internal lights are at max brightness. Already read the owner's manual -- and it only says that there IS a light there -- which is right: there's a light that comes on WHEN THE BUTTON IS PUSHED. What I was asking is if the button is also lit when it ISN'T pushed, i.e., so you can see the hazard and defrost buttons at night to push them.:-) Thanks.

A: I don't think they light up when not pushed in. Haven't in my g20 since I bought it :) It's kind of a pain when driving at night, but I've been driving the car so long I just know where the buttons are.

Q: The needle on my tachometer has gone crazy even when my car is not moving. What's wrong with it ?
My tachometer needle has been moving rapidly back/forth for months. For example if I'm waiting at a light or even when driving it's going crazy all over the place. Overall, my car seems to be running okay but I need to know what's wrong with the tachnometer needle. The make/model 1996 Infiniti G20.

A: The car does not have to be moving to have the tach to move, it would seem that the transducer is bad. I am assuming the engine is not reving up and down.

Q: Can someone please answer a Transmission related question?
The car is surging and bucking in between gear changes. I have a 1996 Infiniti G20 with a 4 speed Auto Trans. What could cause that and what is needed to repair the problem?

A: any trans or engine codes? usually can be caused by throttle position sensor.

Q: ABS light come on after driving for awhile?
After I have been driving for awhile my brakes start to not really grind but feel like they are skipping. Sooner or later my ABS light will come on and they seem to work fine. I was wondering what the problem could be. I drive a 1996 Infiniti G20

A: more than likely it has a wheel speed sensor problem or a cracked sensor ring. it sounds like you are getting false abs actuation. weak sensors, to wide of a sensor gap, cracked sensor ring, bad wheel bearings and metal shaving contamination can cause this. after the computer realizes that this is a false signal it will turn on the light and disable the abs. if you have had any brake work or CV joint/drive axle work have it rechecked as problems can be caused by this type of work.
