Q: Infiniti Q45?
Looking to buy a '99 infiniti Q45t. My question is, how is the acceleration, passing, and midrange power on this car? I understand it has a 266 hp 4.1L V-8, but its a big car and has a lot to pull around. Can someone with a '99-'00 help me out?

not broke, just a teenager. So spending 8-9k on a car with 60k miles isnt that bad.
A: Our neighbor has one but I think it may be an '01 or '02 and it goes pretty fast actually. Infiniti does have one of the best acceleration and power, I mean, come on now, it's Nissan!
But then again, that's just my opinion, we never asked nor have I actually ridden in one. We leased an '01 I35 which was fantastic. It's more or less the look of the car (but definately check on that). And of course, V8 has more power.
I know you are talking about a '99 model but '01 is right after and not usually much difference in performance.
And as for your comment to that Roy dude. 8-9k is actually really good for 60k miles

I have a 1996 infiniti q45 and the transmission malfunction sign appears every now when i start the car for a brief 5-10 seconds then disappears, it has 148,000 miles on it,runs fine, and had the transmission rebuilt not too long ago(due to the sign coming on and a problem i thought it had earlier). Is there a specific reason why the sign would appear?

Q: How would I remove the fogging from headlights on a 2004 infiniti q45?
There is both fogging and scratches. As I look at other q45's this seems to be a fairly common problem so there must be a way to fix it.
I guess fogging was the wrong description....there seems to be a residue on the outside of the lens which is causing a fogging appearance.
A: Is the fogging also include water inside the plastic lenses? Is the fogging due to abrasion and scratches outside the lens?
Both problems can be solved easily the story is quite lengthy. E-mail me which it is and I'll describe how to repair.
***OK, here we go. Sense it's the outside of the lens there is a way to do a fairly good job to be able to see your bulb reflectors once again. Go on line or look in auto parts stores for: Flitz polishing paste. It comes in a large tooth paste looking roll - up tube. Also the same company makes an orange Italian felt serrated flap ball. It can be driven by a 3/8 electric drill or battery drill motor. Simply smear some of this paste on the flap wheel and start the drill slowly to get the feel of it. Keep moving so as not to soften the plastic lens by the heat generated by the flap ball or the paste. You have to be patient.
It took me an hour per headlight to clean them up. They were so bad they were yellow and you could not see the reflector through the face of the headlamp lens.
I worked for a glass company who made the old style head lamps made of 100% glass. We never had to replace them do to abrasion. New style cheap soft plastic headlight exotic shapes put us out of business. Soon after we started making car catalyic converter ceramic honeycomb substraights, for cars and diesels, glass fiber optic cable, and flat screen TV glass.

This F50 chassis and suspension is very similar to the US FY33 (1997-2001 Q45) and Y34 (US 2003-2004 M45).
The Q45 was discontinued after 2006 and the smaller M35/45 replaced it as the flagship car, but is expected to make a return in 2008.

The origional harness has been cut the dash, and I have a kenwood dash that says what color wire goes with what, but there are so many wires from the stock stereo that I dont know what is what

It will run when the battery has charge but still nothing electronic will work does this have anything to do with a relay or altenater
A: Check the large fuses (fuseable links) on the positive battery cable at the battery. These will blow if someone jumped the battery backwards and the symptoms sound like what you have.
Q: I have an 1994 Infiniti Q45 and it says that it needs premium gas. Does it absolutely need premium gas?
Gas is so expensive right now (I think right now it's about $4.50 for regular) and I am just wondering if I absolutely have to put in premium gas or if I could just use the regular kind. Thanks in advance for your help!
A: Yes, your high compression engine needs premium gas. That is why the manufacturer says to use it.
If you don't, you will get pre-ignition, engine knock and damage. Replacing the engine will be far more expensive than the difference between regular and premium.
Q: what engine can replace a stock 1990 infiniti q45 engine?
i purchased a used engine and the original engine. I'm having timing chain problems and I'd like to just start with a certified rebuilt engine if the price is right. My question is basically, can there be another type of engine put into the car or is this the only engine for the vehicle?
A: Seek help with your problem....at this time there is no swap that I know of....used engines are run and tested before being sold at all the major salvage yards nowdays....
Q: How much would it cost to change all four shocks/struts on my 1992 Infiniti Q45-active suspension?
I hear they are costly...
A: Probably more than the car is worth. You should jump on some Infiniti forums and see if you can install struts that are NON Active as you can with some other brands. Then you can get out of it for around $600 parts + Labor.
Q: What can cause a 1994 Infiniti Q45 to shake/Vibrate once you turn it on?
No lights are on except the TCS OFF light. Also the a/c wasn't on at the time or anything like that. And the tires are fine if you are wondering.

A: I personally don't have this type of car, but being a car person, I would have to say that you might need oil. To check your coolant and test the battery. Also, if you start it up and it makes a loud noise, to get the alternator replaced.

The dealership doesn't know what it is made of neither when I contacted the parts department to ask what it was made of and the cost of buying another. The y want way too much for a new one so I want to see if it is steel or aluminum to seek other options on repairing my ride. Like welding the tear shut.

A: Locate a owners manual spend an hour reading it please! there were several Q-45 regular and the technology leading Q-45t and several trim levels between. 1991 was a long time ago and Nissan's and Infinity can be very expensive to fix. Although they almost never break down an automatic climate control issue could cost a small fortune to repair. The Q-45t had power hydraulic controled shock asbobers and sonar controled suspension Super expensive to fix. But it handled like it was on rails.
Q: how do u change an alternator tension pulley on an infiniti q45?
A: Typically Mr. Know-It-All would be right... However, I believe those are pressed on... like P/S pump pulleys... you may need a puller. I could be wrong... but if memory serves me... those are pressed on your vehicle.

Q: Anybody know how to find the ignition coils on a 98 infiniti q45 so i can replace one of them?
A: first off why ? is check engine light on ? if yes than you should have code p1320 ignition primary fault or p030_ last digit would be 1-8 the cylinder which is misfiring .. if possible get a obd2 scan tool to check codes .. you can swap the coils to see if misfire follows to the next cylinder which is the easiest way to determine a faulty coil .. if misfire is isolated to the same cylinder and does not change when coil swapped than its a good coil and you should move to the fuel system for further diagnosis of your issue ..
To access the coils you have to take off the pretty plastic cover and you will see them on top of the valve covers
